Date on Vanity Fair Tag?

Hi everyone! Quick question about this Vanity Fair label: does the 51 in the style number indicate this nightgown was made in 1951? I've never had one with a style number formatted like that before, and my google-fu is failing me: some sites say yes, it's a year, others say no. The only one in the label resource that looks similar is from a paper tag, not a label, so I'm on the fence. Thanks in advance for any help!

Beautiful piece! I love vintage Vanity Fair!

I found this on the Vintage Bulletin.

http://vintagebulletin.blogspot.com/2008/01/ (You have to scroll around 3/4 of the way down the page).

The ad is from March 1, 1954. Although the nightgowns pictured aren't quite like yours, they do have the same perma pleats, so I would guess it's from around the same time.
