Dating a Nordstrom Collectors Shop Piece

Hello, I have never seen this collectors shop label from Nordstrom before. This is a 70% angora 30% camel hair sweater made in Italy. Camel is spelt "kamel". It had a frilly lace & netting with cheap fake diamonds attached to the front, like a built-in cravat, that my daughter removed so it would be "more stylish". The neckline is finished with a velvet ribbon and the contents are not mentioned. I originally was thinking 80s or 90s but the style of the Nordstrom font is similar to other 70s labels from Norstrom. The back of the contents tag does have care label symbols and says dry clean only. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I have seen that Nordie's label before - thinking back in the late 70s or early 80s when I still shopped there on occasion because their Portland store was a block from my office. That said; the silhouette of your sweater doesn't speak 80s to me. Hopefully someone else can chime in to help with date.

In trying to find a Nordstrom's label archive; I ran across this rather shocking article (where have I been!?) . Although the garments don't look similar to those I handle, do any of us really want Nordstrom's as a competitor in the vintage clothing market?

FYI: https://www.cosmopolitan.com/style-beauty/fashion/a35364203/nordstrom-online-vintage-goodfair/

I did some research on my hometown store last year. https://vintagefashionguild.org/label-resource/nordstr/

A note on Nordstrom names and logos
Wallin & Nordstrom was used 1901-1930
Nordstrom’s was used 1930-1967
Nordstrom Best was used 1967-1973
Nordstrom was used 1973-present

The all-lower case logo was used 1973-1981, an all-caps variation on the Optima font was used 1981-2019. The logo was changed again in 2019, to one in all capital letters with round o’s.

Your sweater must date from that 1973-81 period. I would say late 70s.

I remember in the grunge era Nordstrom was selling racks of vintage plaid shirts. I recall a help wanted ad for shirt buyers in the Northwest, where the plaid shirts go to die. :hysterical:

I give them a lot of credit for staying innovative.

Thank you both for your replies. I would never have thought this piece to be from 73 to 81. As to that article, when I was doing my research, I did come across it but didn't click into it as I'm not surprised by the number of companies trying to cash in on this "vintage trend." Coach is also selling a line of their vintage bags on their website. I hope I am safe in saying I can use your research in my listing @denisebrain ?

Yes you may! Just please include something like this: “Information courtesy of denisebrain/the Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource.”
