dating a Pierre Cardin

Hi...
I have this Blazer that appears to be from the 80's, maybe a little later? It also has a Pierre Cardin label, that I haven`t seen before. Does anyone out there recognize this label? When was it used? Am I correct with the date of the blazer? Thanks in advance:)

i haven't seen this cardin label before either, but he used a lot of different labels. judging by the style and the label, it looks early 80s.
 
With the "P" logo it tells us it is a licensed product

it's been so long since i've posted, the quoting gizmo has changed. where is it now? anyway, that's useful info. i didn't know the P meant it's licensed. thanks, deborah :)

Cardin was the king of licensing. The late '70s-80s are awash with his licensed products.

Are there any more labels, perhaps in the inside pocket? There should be a fabric and perhaps care label, and maybe country of origin.

I would call this a sports jacket. It's a type of checked tweed, almost a houndstooth. The colours and size of lapel with the provided label look late '70s to me.

Are the top of the lapels cotton velvet and the buttons plaited leather?

yes, cardin did tons of licensing. i just didn't realize the P on a label indicated a licensed piece.

Yes, including children's wear. I remember my dad bought my son a onesie when
he was 6 months old back in '79 with the P on the bottom of of each foot. My jaw
dropped when I saw the price tag! Can't remember the dollar amount now but
I do remember thinking we could have bought groceries for a week; so it must
have been about 40 dollars. Outrageous for the time.

That being said, it was good quality, my daughter also wore it and then it was passed
on to relatives; so it lasted quite a few years and was worth the $ in the end.

Oh dear, I've had a memory lane moment...
