    It looks like an under-bust waist cincher type of thing—but I know very little about corsetry.

    I would guess early 1900s... when the first sort-of-bras turned up and and a separate girdle, waist cincher, whatever would be worn with it.

    It's Edwardian - straight front corset, c. 1901 - 1905

    Hi, Victorian corsets were long, from the breasts all the way down to the hips. This corset is short, more suited for a beautiful silhouette than for strong tightening. :)
