Dating Simpson's purse

I've managed to find information on the Canadian department store Simpsons, but wanted to pick your brains anyway, because I'm not sure how old could this purse be. Because of the label I assume it's pre 1957? But I'm not sure, the "S" seemed to be thinner in old logo.

Is all the trim metal floating over fabric? So interesting!

Lovely, the style and trim lends its self more to 40s then 50s but I don't think it either, 6os I think.
