Found this several years ago and fell in love, but don't know much about designer from online sleuthing. Would love to know who made this dress and what year it was made, as well as what it may have been worn for (to me, it just screams Thanksgiving). Also, what material is the top and bottom? The zipper says Talon on it. I realize the belt is missing, and that the skirt may have lost its pleating (right word?) But what else don't i know lol? 15537046890034032246971042158444.jpg 15537048096941429241028368580790.jpg 15537048470312939221833436039052.jpg 15537050050684849243301188694044.jpg

    Hi Jaclyn

I see early/mid 70s with this. It's very much something my mom would have for a party or yes, for Thanksgiving. It's fantastic!

And I love the cutie in your avatar!

Thank you! My avatar is our beloved housecat, Sally Bob.

Any idea what material the bottom portion of the dress might be? It's like a metallic gold foil... is it possible to re- crease the previous folds?

I just listed a dress made of similar fabric and I called it lame (pronounced la-may). There are fabric experts here who might be able to give you a better answer. And I'm not sure about the folds - I think it would be hard to re-crease fabric like this.

    Sally Bob is a sweetie!

I thought it looked like lame, but wondered if there was a better word to use for it. The union label inside wasn't used until the mid 70s, right? Lastly, is there any way to determine who made this dress?

  7. If there is an RN number you can look it up and it will give you the name of the manufacturer.
