Do you think this is a costume

In my experience, a metal side zipper does not point to 1930s. The typical 30s garment closed with snaps or buttons along the side seam. Not 100% true of course, there will always be exceptions.

We have noticed. I think bots are showing up in lots of forums these days.

We have Forum Rules, and we try to err on the side of caution with newly-registered Guests as long as they are adhering to those rules. It's always possible that a post that sounds like a bot might be a human who wants to participate but isn't sure what to say, so asks AI for words to use.

Of course, when I see nearly identical misinformation from two different guests, like posts #18 and #20 in this thread, it makes me blink. And then I feel the need to post a correction.

Hey, I m Nova

I'm not entirely certain, but based on the side zip and short back zip, it could be from the late 1940s. As for the sleeves, there's a possibility they might have had elastic at the hems. The metal side zipper and other mentioned features do point to a vintage item, likely from the 1930s. The unusually long sleeves on an XXS dress may indicate it was either a costume or a distinctive design from that era. Discovering more about its origin and purpose would be quite intriguing.
My mom (lady in my profile picture) worked at MGM in the forties and did buy some costume dresses. Maybe I will dig a little bit more.
