Does anyone know anything about Gothe New York??

Well this was great to stumble upon! I am the "alleged grandson," quoted above. Actually "Uncle Dave" was my great-uncle, and it was the co-owner of Gothé who was my grandfather. Some entries early on in this thread (great word to use on this site) gave me some interesting quotations I hadn't seen before, so thanks! Also, I have (among other relevant documentation) the letter from the Smithsonian asking my grandfather if they remember the name of the supplier of some of the materials for Ms. Roosevelt's inaugural gown, as it needed some restoration work after being on display for many years. I also have a photograph (signed) of Ms. Roosevelt, given to my mom when she was at Gothé for her fitting. My mom relates that, to everyone's startled surprise, she got up on the table to address the dressmakers who were there. I have other correspondence related to Gothé, though most of the sketches and many albums of designs, were donated to the Metropolitan Museum in NY - their costume department - many years ago.
