Donna Karan Skirt

I need help identifying a skirt I picked up at my local thrift. It has the brand tag stating it is Donna Karan New York, but no other identifying or supporting information tags. I have found another like it listed on Etsy, but I am not sure of the age of the skirt or what the fabrics are. Someone suggested that I do research on this site as it is a valuable asset to their business. It was suggested by another person that the zipper pulls on this skirt may be 24K gold plated. The skirt on the Etsy shop says 100% Wool with Goat Skin. I really just want to see if I can verify any of this information and if this is a vintage garment. Any help will be very much appreciated!

Bumping for you. Hopefully someone with expertise in this brand will be along!

ETA: I don't know you have checked the VFG Label Resource entry for Donna Karan. Our team does research the information we provide. It looks like Donna Karan started in 1985. Your label looks like an earlier one, although you can't date a garment by label alone,

I did find a deadstock version of this skirt listed on Etsy - if you search there for Karan skirt gold logo pulls, you should find it. That seller does state that the pulls are 24K gold plated, but I don't see what she is basing that on - if you contact her, she may be able to offer some sort of confirmation. She has dated the skirt to early 90s. She also describes it as "Couture", which is an inaccurate keyword.

Thank you so much for the reply and the information. I had seen that listing as well but didn't know that "Couture" was inaccurate. I truly appreciate your help!

You are welcome!

From a 2017 NY Times article: What Does Couture Actually Mean? "haute couture, by its very nature, is an archaic throwback. It is only produced in Paris, by a handful of designers (14 officially) and presented twice a year, in January and July. Haute couture pieces are constructed almost entirely by hand, and prices regularly range in the hundreds of thousands of dollars for a single piece. Houses shore their businesses up with mass-manufactured lines, or lucrative licensed perfumes and cosmetics."

No American design houses are on the list - most couture houses are recognizable names like Chanel, Dior, Givenchy etc. And no RTW (Ready To Wear) fashion can be truthfully called couture, because couture is custom made for the wearer. So for example Chanel is a house that makes haute couture, but primarly sells ready-to-wear pieces that are not couture even though they bear the Chanel name.
