I found 1940's references to Dorothy Lord, a bridal consultant to Boston's Slattery's (department?) store. In 1949 the Boston Herald announced: "Dorothy Lord, well known bridal consultant, will open a new shop at 11 Newbury street, Back Bay, tomorrow." They added that the shop will carry everything for the bride and "dresses for guests will also be available."
A 1972 MA newspaper then announced a Going Out of Business sale from Dorothy Lord: "Next to Ritz Carlton Hotel, Boston Mass., One of Newbury Street's finest shops closes its doors forever."
