    Hi all!

Can someone help confirm when this dress is from? Am I right in thinking 1940s? Which part of the decade? It is a very sheer dress (handmade) with a pink taffeta slip (also with a side zipper). The pink in the puff sleeves is part of the dress and creates the "puff" of the sleeve, so I assume the slip is supposed to be with the dress as it matches the pink in the dress.

    Thanks!

I love that pink beneath! I would say it dates from about 1939-41

I agree your assistant is absolutely darling!!! I think the dress could be just a little earlier - 1937 - 1939.
Several years ago I helped out at the UH Costume Collection and your dress reminds me very much of one in the collection (minus the slip) that was dated 1937-1939. It's a late afternoon/"tea" dress. Here are some photos that I took - and the card that went with the dress. There were several other dresses that still had their slips. This dress didn't have a zipper but there were other late '30's dresses that did. Your dress is lovely!
