Keep em' coming. I really love seeing these. It is so neat to see what pops up out of everyone's finds and collections.

Is that the same Ralph Marlin as my 1994 pig tie?

    Wow - amazing ties :jawdrop:!

Here's the two most special ties I've had:
    il_570xN.622677024_ikfj.jpg
This was by Weisbrod-Zürrer - one of Zurich's once-famous silk companies.

    il_570xN.659153089_i3da.jpg
Tie designed by the artist Jean Tinguely (he's more known for his crazy sculptural pieces - so this was a surprise!), designed for the Swiss 700-year jubilee 1991.

I unfortunately have no photo of the tie I found while thrifting last year and gave my best friend (we're gals who wear ties - though her husband nabs her ties sometimes ). It was less than 20 years old, but it was a motif of all kinds of different Japanese Noh theater masks - so unusual!

Wow - I can't compete with you folks, but I sure love the photos. I have a soft spot for wool ties and the last one is a "Rooster." woolties.JPG

  6. Like Maureen, I too had a Jayne Mansfield peek-a-boo. What was extra-cute was the tiny print of a figures scaling towers on the "right" side of the tie:

And this "Surrealism by D'Lorah" tie from Waldorf seems to have been fashioned after the popular Dali ties:

Hi Melanie -- Looks like the same Ralph Marlin, and how cool your pig tie is. I didn't know that Marlin made other animal themed ties as well.

We're ready to publish a book! Phenomenal!

Mary Jane--can't find a photo now, but I sold a tie last year soooo similar to your pheasant tie, except with a different colorway and different birds (I called them lovebirds). The manufacturer was Raxon. Do you know who made yours?

I've had this 'Let's Twist' skinny tie in my collection for 35 years now, I'm amazed I still have it! 2015-10-23 11.19.26.jpg

Too funny, Mary Jane! There were SO many manufacturers in the 40s & 50s it's really not that common (at least for me) to come across the same tie twice.

Here's the one I had; it didn't have a cloth label, just the design name in the print, which I forgot all about (thought I landed on "lovebirds" for a description on my own...:) ):

Carla, I found a calypso tie to go with your Twist tie!
I am taking some pix tomorrow & will post it then.

    But check this one out:
    COCKTAILSTIE.jpg
It's A Colorcade Print by Cutter Cravat.
    COCKTAIL HOUR by Signe Gorman.
Not in the best condition but so cool.
