Fabric id help please, easy one for the experts!

Hi all, I seem to forget the name of this fabric every time. It is a silk fabric with a woven pattern into it but the pattern shows up because it is ...shinier? I know I have seen this on quite a few 70s-80s ties and some blouses and shirts too. I just can't seem to find it. I have looked under Jacquard and Brocade and seem to hit a wall after that. I'm sure you all are familiar with this fabric... picture attached.

Also if anyone recognises the label do let me know. Pretty sure on 70s for the dating. Think the Label reads 'Chantal' then 'CRPR?' maybe an S or 5 at the end?

Thank you, I did wonder about that but when I look at damasks they all seem to have quite floral patterns and the colour usually seem to be a stark contrasting colour.

Edit: Scratch that, I was looking up fabrics, when I look up silk damask shirts I get lots of shirts like this. Brilliant! Thank you

Yes I agree, I think you have it, thank you. I'm wondering if it means it was made on the Island of Capri? Or if it is a particular style of shirt?

Haha, yes indeed! I had not seen the other though, so that's great! Thank you. I shall continue to research the brand/designer. I do love just understanding the garments and their histories

I would call the fabric silk jacquard.
I think Chantal was competing with the Chanel copies.

Yes it is a jacquard, but there are many many types of jacquard. One type of jacquard is damask which is actually more specifc to what this blouse is made of. So I would call it silk damask.

Barbara, Although damask jacquard may be technically correct, I think the term is confusing to the average buyer.

Right, that is why I would call it silk damask and leave out the jacquard reference entirely. It is redundant, as damask is a jacquard. It is also more specific.
