Famolare Shoes

I acquired this pair of red and white leather moccassins labeled Famolare (made in brazil). The bottom of the heels have a little rubber inset with an old fashioned bicycle in them.

I googled Famolare and they seemed to have been known for 70s platform shoes. We don't have anything in the label resource either

Does anyone know anything about this maker?

I am assuming that the shoes i have are more modern (80s/90s) than that, but sometimes with this style it is really hard to say.

The famolare shoes I had in the 70s had a wavy soul (their trademark I believe). These must be newer.

I looked at their website...and they talked about the shoes you talk about....and the newer shoes are more thick soled leather sandals. etc with the same patented foot bed. i couldn't find anything in their old ads like this. (they have a little ad gallery) . They make a special point that everytihing made in the USA...these say Brazil... So it is sometime before 1999 and after 1970 something - so 80s/90s - and that is what i thought before...

i emailed the company but the email bounced back to me.

Me too, Carol. I remember Famolares, typically with suede uppers and wavy, rubber soles, from 1974-1975. I coveted them and remember that the styles were named "___ There." The super-platforms were named "Hi/or High There." I remember "Get There," too. These do look modern in comparison. I'm sorry I have no guess on age, though.

Those look a little like the Quoddy mocs I remember from the early 80s. Moccasins were big with the Williamsburg crowd this summer...

maybe.

i called them up and spoke to a really nice lady. Mr. F is still around and oversees the day to day, so she is going to talk to him and get back to me because he would know exactly when they made em : )
