FASHION MIDWEST Launches, Needs MySpace Love!

Working with my tenants/friends/neighbors at my shop we have come up with a plan for a HUGE fashion event at one of the coolest nightclubs here in Des Moines, Iowa. Plans are set for April 24th and more throughout the weekend! I'd love it if you'd add us as a friend on MySpace here....<a target="_blank" href=http://www.myspace.com/fashionmidwest>FASHION MIDWEST</a>.

I'll let you guys know as things get firmed up. We have an offer from a nightclub to use the club for FREE (staggering, really)....its centrally located in downtown Des Moines on Court Avenue where there is a lot of nightlife already. Eliminating the costs of renting a place frees up a lot of dollars (ok, assuming we get sponsors to GET dollars!) for advertising, etc. The plans are for a designer competition a la Project Runway with press covering that leading up to the event, a model call/contest prior to the event and runway show in the club featuring local boutiques, designers, hair salons, make up and tattoo artist's works. The plan is to make it as over the top as humanly possible so it makes an impression!!

It works incredibly well. They have their thing....each one has a different spin on how they design/re-design vintage (un-rescuable) pieces. Its not at all a competition with me, and whats cool is that when I get a client who loves a 30s look I can send her up to Julie who does very girlie, 30s inspired pieces and often if they arent able to find what they want with me that day, they may find something up there! Keeps them coming back, and thats important.

Also, they SEW!!!!!!!! I can have them repair things for me for a couple bucks or trade for a stained dress or make minor alterations that often make or break making a sale that otherwise would have walked due to fit issues.

No complaints!
