Just pulled this off Facebook (Midcentury Fashion) as I thought it was pretty neat! "Salvatore Ferragamo in the 1950s with made-to-measure shoe lasts for high profile clients. He studied anatomy at the University of Southern California to learn how to make his shoes more comfortable."

Great post Amanda!.
I was very lucky to visit the Ferragamo museum in Florence back in 2008, as part of the Costume Colloquium . Oh my- so many amazing shoes!
This was my favourite pair, in hand painted canvas from the 1930's.
