Fingerless Gloves

Was it considered proper to keep fingerless gloves on to eat at a formal dinner by ladies in the 1920s?

I have never seen fingerless gloves from the 1920s - they tend to be either early-mid Victorian, or late 1930s - 1940s for bridal wear mostly. As far as I have ever read, a lady always removes her gloves to eat - including afternoon tea.
