Get the Look: A Tribute to Anita Ekberg
Kerstin Anita Marianne Ekberg was born in Malmo, Sweden on Sept. 29, 1931. She won the Miss Malmo Pageant and in 1950 was crowned Miss Sweden. She received an American film contract soon after her win.
The combination of Ekberg's stunning, statuesque physique and her well-publicized romances with leading men (including Frank Sinatra, Tyrone Power, Errol Flynn, Rod Taylor and Yul Brynner) made her a frequent feature in the Hollywood gossip magazines, and a favorite 1950s pin-up.
She starred in a string of film comedies which made more use of her “assets” than her acting skills. After several more promising dramatic turns in American films of the mid-1950s, she was cast in her most iconic role, in Fellini’s film La Dolce Vita (1960).
This week, in her honor, we feature clothing worthy of a vintage Hollywood bombshell: figure-hugging dresses, strapless gowns and “Hollywood casual” separates, as well as pin-up style undergarments and swimwear!
