I recently bought a box of Victorian night wear. I surprisingly found this in there. I am having trouble dating it and I am only guessing it's a smoking cap????? Really, I know nothing of it's age and value and couldn't find anything non military by Gieves.
I hope someone can give me a clue. Thanks all!!!

That is a very nice hat indeed. It does look like a smoking hat. Since it was made by Gieves, I might suspect it is a style of Zouave hat. The label indicates either Queen Victoria or Queen Elizabeth II. Without handling it, it is hard to date the age, but I suspect the latter, and it is mid 20th century.

It is a traditional Harrow Football XI award fez for boys at Harrow School. Gieves was the outfitters until the early 1990s.
I am interested in buying, let me know.
