Girls Love Pearls
June's traditional birthstone is the pearl. Natural or cultured, real pearls are iridescent like the interior of the mollusk shell that produces them. Imitation pearls attempt to recreate this iridescence, as do the various materials inspired by the pearl's shimmering surface - including pearlized leather, lucite and other plastics like vinyl.
This week, our members show us their pearls in all shades of white--and colors too! Pearl jewelry, both simple and ornate; clothing and accessories embellished with pearl beading; and bags, shoes and other items with iridescent, pearlized finishes.
