Fashion has had a global reach for a long time – just think of silk from China being worn by Roman Emperors. And it's not only materials, but also styles, shapes and motifs from the far reaches of the world that have been adopted as fashionable while global trade grew. Today, more than ever, fashion designers take inspiration from ethnic styles.
