Happy 80th Birthday, Jimi Hendrix!
James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix would have celebrated his 80th birthday on November 27. Widely considered one of the most creative and influential musicians to have ever lived, and arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music, his legacy is undeniable. It's mind-blowing to think that his mainstream commercial career spanned just four short years during the Psychedelic Sixties.
An undisputed musical trailblazer, Jimi was also a counter-culture fashion icon, a dandy whose gender-fluid sartorial splendor continues to influence boho-gypsy fashion more than 50 years later. He favored mixed prints, flowing ruffled shirts and silky kimonos, military jackets and embroidered vests, velvet pants, wide brimmed hats and concho belts. Jimi's finishing touches were also as Bold as Love, often including layers of silver jewelry and patterned silk scarves worn at the neck, as a headband, belt, or tied on a pant leg. Oh, Foxey Lady!
