Hat No. 2 (of 4). How to describe it?

Background: The widow whose home I'm cleaning out is a 92-year-old named Annette. These hats were left to her by her aunt and I'm making a good-faith effort to sell them for her. With Hat No. 1, I learned what a bumper toque is! With this hat, again, I need help in describing it in a way that's informative, accurate and appealing. It's made of what feels like velour and I'm smart enough to know it's red. Is it unusual that there are no labels? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated!

Its a lovely hat. My feelings are it is home made, or made by a student of millinery or a fledgling milliner in a hat shop. Not 100% sure but it has that look to it, on the inside. Not a particular style, sort of an oversized pillbox or, again, a toque. I really like the velveteen leaf that wraps around the side.

I thought it was rather striking, myself! And it did occur to me that, with the absence of a label, it might have been handmade. I wonder if there were aspiring fashion designers working in high-end clothing stores back in the 1950s-'60s. Velveteen?? I feel more education coming my way! So, it's not just a fanciful name for the stuffed rabbit in a 1922 children's book?

Wikipedia: "Velveteen pile is much shorter than velvet. Instead of creating the pile from the vertical warp threads, velveteen's pile comes from the horizontal weft threads. Velveteen is heavier and has less shine and drape than velvet, which is softer and smoother." Who knew? You, apparently!! Warp threads? Weft threads? More learning to do!

I love The Velveteen Rabbit!

Ha! Yes, it's a classic. Who wouldn't love it?! Thanks for the link. I never imagined I'd be this intrigued by vintage women's hats!
