Hi there,

I'm a vintage newbie. I found this lovely floral dress the other day that I'm in love with I can't for the life of me figure out whether it's vintage 50's or is a an 1980's / 50's revival dress? I've attached photos of front and back of dress as well as some detailing in the shoulders and the tag. Not shown in the pictures, there are two front pockets in the dress as well, full skirt, no lining, no evidence of zig zag stitching but the edges are sewn with a serger. I'm thinking because of the usual sizing (size 13) and the fact that there are no care instruction it's a 50's dress or am I way off?

I also would say that it's an 80's throwback to midcentury style. The label itself looks more modern (font, design, etc.) and the tag beneath it is clearly made of the sort of synthetic material that modern day tags consist of. I also second the Thailand notion, as we were not outsourcing much in the 50's yet (and if so, only from Europe). I'm guessing the zipper would probably be a good indicator too, as midcentury dresses tend to have metal ones.
