any help dating this dress would be much appreciated. no label, appears to be handmade? does anyone know what that neckline would be called / is the tie tied the proper way? thank you!

I would tie it just like that and have a little keyhole effect going on. I think those are sexy. But you could tied it more like an ascot, tuck the end in too.

I think this is late 40s - early 50s... what kind of fabric?

It feels like a stiff cotton, or cotton blend to me? Slight sheen to it
