Help dating dress

Hi all,

Hoping to get some help dating this dress. Originally, I thought 20s but it belonged to a woman who was a fashion model in the 50s. Also, would you say this is silk rayon?

I think it might be early80s... I say this because of the drop waist and the buttons not going all the way to that waist seam. What do the interior seams and hem look like?

I am quite sure its patriotic wartime - c. 1942-1943. I have a couple of similar garments I got from Northstar Vintage a few years back.

It looks like 40s and rayon - but you might find out more about fabric content with a burn test... I've just recently found a 40s pattern with a similar silhouette with drop waist and pleated skirt. Not quite a military looking, but there's an option with collar shown on the back as well:

Thank you all! 40s is definitely more consistent with the age of the person who it belonged to. Does anyone know anything about these eagle buttons? Were they used by a specific designer or brand?

My first impression was 40s. But, as Cin suggests, photos of interior seams/hem would be helpful!
