Hi Maureen, I am talking about the leg openings, at the side hem not the waist. I fear I may have totally caused confusion! hello kitty emoti
 
Hello the pants are men’s pants and have been used is several different films including “The Three Musketeers “ 1935 can’t remember the names of the other films right now but if you look on The internet for films of this era you will find them used many times. Hope this helps I collect movie costumes and have two identical pairs of the pants in my collection.
