Hello what is the person in this painting wearing? Any ideas, the origin or what sort of vest that is?
I am trying to determine if this may be a circus performer outfit. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks in advance

Looks like an Eastern European ( Hungarian? Serbian? Croatian?) embroidered vest, not a circus costume. With a simple sweater, pants and neck scarf.
