Help identifying brooch, please

Hi. Can anyone identify anything about this brooch please.
I'm not sure if it is vintage or more modern (it was among my late mother's things) it is bright gold in colour and has A972H (or M) on the back. It has been suggested that it is silver but I'm not convinced because of the colouring. I've tried researching but drawn a blank.
