I just picked this lovely coat up at an estate sale and it had no history. It has no label or monogram inside at all. Curly black lamb with a fur collar. I assumed mink, but am now wondering if this is sable or something else? It is incredibly silky and a chocolate tone. This coat is nearly flawless (one little tiny tear in the fabric under the fur collar - the collar fabric not the coat). The lining is immaculate. It shows no signs of wear but for that tiny tear under the collar. No label. A snap closure at the top and a hook closure on the body. I typically wear a size 6 or 8 and this coat fits me perfectly.
Fur collar is two pieces sewn together. Detachable. I took pictures at the seam and manipulating the fur with my fingers so you can see the individual hairs, etc.
So I am wondering what this fur is and whether this is deadstock? A sample? Reproduction? Beautiful quality. Any telltale signs from a particular maker? A little baffled over here.
