Help identifying this hat and symbol?

    A photo of my great grandfather who was a WW2 vet. Not sure if this hat is military or not though. Any help would be great!

    It reminds me of some versions of the Knights Templar cross. Was your GGF a Catholic? Did he belong to any fraternal orders?

    Yes he was Catholic, but I’m not sure about fraternal orders. That’s what I’m trying to find out
