Help please

We are working on old photos. This one has nothing on the back to identify the individuals.
Can you provide any help with a date based on the dress and/or hair styles. I know you don't have much to go on.
I think this is a couple.

Yes, the "star" will be a marvel filled thing for us to be able to see!

Yes, hard to say with only the neck and hair to go by. Looks circa 1900 or so. I think it is a mother and son rather than a couple, but not sure.

I looked at this photo with that in mind.
This is my husband's great grandparents (1879). His great-grandfather died before Pop was born --which would have been shortly after this photo was made.
Even adding some years, this doesn't look like Alice in the other photo.
