Help! Repairing hole in silk overlay

I have this lovely 1950s dress that unfortunately has a small hole in its overlay. I believe the material might be silk, if not it is probably cotton. Any tips on how to fix it, if it can be fixed at all. Thanks in advance. As you can imagine I was quite upset when I saw that hole and I would love for it to be fixed.

And upon closer inspection I found another much bigger hole.

Looks like a lovely dress. Is there anywhere inside the dress where you might be able to harvest a small amount of that fabric to use in a hand-sewn repair? The skirt seam at the base of the zipper perhaps? Or a deep hem?

I didn’t even think of that. The seams are small for a vintage dress, probably only 1/2 an inch, but the hem is 6in wide so there is definitely some to spare. Thank you.
