    Help with an 80\'s Mugler...

VIVID red. I mean WOW red. Incredible fit conscious seaming (as per usual for Mugler).
This label isn't on the resource, btw... is this one of his less expensive lines (as opposed to the blue label)??

I have no idea about the label - i know nothing really about it.

But the jacket looks like it has such a flattering cut....its really cool.

    Thanks, Chris! :)

I wish I knew more about the gal who would buy this. Does she like 80's Mugler... or just Mugler? Wondering if she is like the St John gals and doesn't want to be reminded that it's vintage. Or is it so dated that it doesn't matter? LOL!
Of course... it's a bit big on my dress form. The shoulders aren't actually THAT big. Padding is fairly mild for 80's, actually.

I had a slightly later jacket - not much later...maybe late 88-92 that had a zipper like that. It was slightly longer though and was black on one side red on the other. I still wish i had it.

I don't think the shoulder pads are that huge...it gives it a very structured look and creates a really definite, more angular silhouette than some of the big shoulderpadded "big for the sake of big" numbers.

I think people who like streamlined clothing...people who like new wave and that 80s "mod revival" so to speak look will really like this regardless of being mugler or not.

Take this with a grain of salt from a nonexpert, but I think a lot of people when you say "mugler" automatically think 80s...and the 80s are "in" anyhow so i would put it in the vintage 80s category if on ebay or say 80s retro or vintage on your site and then crosslist in modern if you want. Someone may advise the opposite and tell you to put vintage in the title but list in modern. I just think if people are specifically looking for Mugler they will title search anyhow - its not like mugler is Old Navy where there are 379.000.934 items for sale on any given day.

    Kristine -

No, that label isn't from a diffusion line - it's just a modern one, as opposed to the blue/silver label that was used in the 80's. I don't know exactly (or even approximately :BAGUSE: ) when the black & white label appeared, but I am sure that this jacket originally retailed for a stratospheric sum. Great jacket, very Mugler (very Thierry?) :)

    Nice find!

    Thanks Carolyn!

I just tossed this one up on ebay. I hope it's close enough to 80's that I'm not being misleading? It sure looks & feels 80's... or did Thierry keep doing that Dynasty look well into the 90's?

maybe its late 80s to early 90s. in the very early 90s..shoulder pads were still around but not as rediculous as the 80s and you saw more structure...so maybe my remembering that jacket of mine was a third generation knock off of something like this. If so, this would probably have been paired with a miniskirt that is darted like a pencil skirt rather than a-line or pants if it is 89-93.

  8. I think as long as you have Mugler in the title, you will do fine. Maybe cross list in vintage and modern. I know that fitted jacket and coat are good keywords.

I think Marie just sold a Mugler. You may want to search her completed auctions.
