Help with cleaning / washing 70s gold "embroidery" on a dress

I hope it's ok to post this here! I'm stumped as to how to clean this dress. The black part feels like 70s polyester, so that's easy, but I'm not sure how the gold decorations will react to handwashing or dry cleaning. They're kind of a stiff metallic.

If anyone has an idea how safe this might be to wash, I'd appreciate it!

I believe you'd be OK washing this gently by hand in cool water. If you'd like to test the gold trim's reaction prior, you could mix up a little of your detergent and cool water and dab some on as inconspicuous a spot as possible. Let this sit for about 10 minutes then rinse it out. You should see a difference if there is going to be a difference when washing.
