help with silk sequin scarf

Is there a way to tell if a sequin in gelatin? I can't quite determine the dating of this scarf so maybe that would help? It does appear hand-stitched and the edges are rolled/stitched. I was thinking if the sequins were gelatin maybe that would help narrow down the dating. I bought it from another collector with some very nice items but she couldn't elaborate on this piece. Thanks!

I was always told that a gelatin sequin will disintegrate in warm/hot water. But I never tested this idea.

Is there one loose one that you could put into a glass of warm water to see what happens?

Maybe moisten one slightly, with care and see if it gets sticky when you hold it between 2 fingertips.
