Henry Rosenfeld Dress

I recently aquired a large amount of vintage clothing. This is one of the nicer dresses from those clothes. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of when it came from or anything else about it. I'm not certain if the belt came with it, but there are thread loops for a belt and this was the closest match out of all the belts I got with the clothes.

Looks like early to mid 50s to me... I am still new at this so I would wait on the "professionals" lol

But the belt will be ok with it and help sell it... but almost always the belt was not a solid color. It would have been an excat match to the fabric unlike today!

I lie the belt, a wide white on might look better though.

Any label?

Great color!

All the original self-fabric belts that have miraculously stayed together with the 50s day dresses I have are quite a bit skinnier than yours.

Also, I've never shied away from buying a 50s/60s dress that has the belt missing--ie I don't think you need to feel you MUST show it with a belt! You could simply say loops are there but belt is missing, and then show it in one pic with the replacement belt--that's what I'd do.

Very cute dress, and I love the color; I also have a special fondness for polka-dots! If this is the Rosenfeld dress, then, yes, that is a name that is "known."

Many of these 50's dresses have not survived with their belts intact, so, like Carrie says, it's no big deal to show it without. And the original probably would have been skinnier, but the wide one is cute. A lot of vintage buyers are using the later, wider belts with earlier dresses to give them a different or updated look, so you could either sell the orange belt with it, or indicate it can be purchased separately.

That is a lovely dress, and the belt is a good match and looks fine. I think it may have had a matching belt in the same fabric but this one looks good too.

Thanks for the info on the belts. Looking at many of the other dresses I have, their belts are the exact fabrics, though one is the same thinkness as this belt. There are also many belts that I got with the clothes with no matches at all.

Here's a picture of the label.
