How would this scarf be fastened? and age

This silk crepe scarf has an interesting feature, a small button and button loop on one side. I wonder if anyone knows how it would be fastened. Is there a special way of wrapping it then fastening the button to hold it in place? In the photos I just have it draped across the dress form shoulders and buttoned at the front, but I feel like there must be some way of doing it that I can't figure out. Google searches are no help. Maybe this is how it was supposed to be worn?

Also, I think this scarf may be 1930s; if anyone can confirm or correct that guess, it would be very helpful!

I don't know how it should fasten, but I, like you, would think there may be more to this. I can only say that the button and loop are positioned on the back of the scarf (seeing how the hem is sewn) , so as to be hidden.

I am so curious now! Where does the button fall if wraped once? or if it is folded? Could it be made to position over a button up blouse where the loop secures to one side of the collar and the scarf button into the button hole on the other side?

Hmm yes, if I wrap it once around my neck I can fasten it at the throat. It's a bit snug but I could see that maybe being how it's supposed to go. Not sure what is supposed to happen with the ends after that. But I could see it being useful given that silk scarves are so prone to coming undone and floating away.

I don't think it's meant to button onto a blouse, but who knows....the button and loop are far enough apart that it would be a button far down the blouse, not at the collar, and if wrapped they wouldn't reach any buttons except maybe a button right at the top of the collar?

I thought maybe it was to use as a headscarf, but again the button and loop are too far apart for that. Wrapping once seems to make more sense. I'll try to get a picture on the dress form to demonstrate. I guess it could also be used as a shawl as well. I wonder if it originally came with a manual to show how to use it?

OK, here it is with it wrapped once and buttoned. I'm not sure what is supposed to happen with the ends, but it looks nice like this so maybe they're just supposed to hang there. Thank you @BlackLotusVintage ! It kind of seems obvious now but I was really puzzled by it, LOL.
