I find a Holy Grail...

I'm really enjoying reading about all these shopping triumphs!

Joules - I adore those Famolares! Comfort is an important criteria for me, but those are so stylish too - proving that comfort doesn't have to mean a compromise in elegance!

I'm intrigued by that wedge heel which seems to have a kind of wavy profile.

Pam - I love your story about the fur. How come things like that never happen to me??

Marty - what a gorgeous coat, and it looks so versatile. I used to have a 50s silk grosgrain evening coat that was my 'going out' standby for at least ten years!

Karin - looking forward to seeing your 1940s bargain!

Linn - what an elegant dress, with such a beautiful neckline. I imagine that it would be very flattering, especially with your slim figure.

Sadly, I didn't manage to find any 'Holy Grails' over the holiday season. But I did do rather well with presents so I'm going to find that thread and post over there now!

with Famolare sandals like this, it is better to be on the smaller side of things, rather than too roomy.

My experience as well~ I got a wicked pair of Hi Theres from Beth (Bijou) a year and a half ago. They were too large for me so I resold them - that sale didn't work out so I'm thinking of re-re-selling them or seeing if my shoe repair guy can take the straps in so I can wear them~

Louise, thank you! Are you still having snow and intense cold there? Wondering, as I know you want to get out on your new bicycle. I'm nearly caught up with hair color, bodywork maintenance, etc. but need to kick off my exercise routine next. :)

I don't think my feet have seen the light of day for the longest time. No chance of a pedicure any time soon for me! The snow is still here with more forecast this week. It's so cold and icy - even worse than last week so I can't go out on my bike until it's cleared - it's just too dangerous. My car looks like an ice cube with a thick blanket of snow over the top. I've not driven anywhere for over a week now and can't remember the last time it was this cold. We have plenty of shops within walking distance so it's not like we're cut-off or anything serious - thank goodness.

We had clear blue skies yesterday and I went out for a little walk with Martha. It was lovely and she didn't stop chatting all the time we were out! Her school is closed until at least Monday as the heating has broken down at her school. This has to be the longest Christmas holiday on record!

I'll have to brave the freezing cold again today as I've got to walk up to the Post Office with a parcel. At least I've had 3 good sales on Etsy since I opened the shop this week. :)

I've forgotten what it feels like to be hot! Southern Spain seems a very distant memory right now. :beach:

I agree Louise! I'm not far from you and I've never known such an extended cold snap - I'm really fed up with it now!

Our road is completely untreated and the compacted snow is like a skating rink so we're not going anywhere until the thaw either!

Look what I found! I finally bought the "Fashion of the 70s" book by Taschen, and there's a Famolare ad from 1979 in it:
