    Hi everyone,
I picked up this ladies suit jacket. It's in fantastic condition which is throwing me off from the date. It has long lines (like a 40s suit), pick stitching around the collar, a 40s style collar, double breasted, and a National recovery Coat label that would date it between wide range of years. It has patch pockets and is made by "gateway modes". The material is a white lightweight wool and lined with satin or silk. There are medium sized shoulder pads too.

Here are some photos. If anyone could help me date this mysterious coat please let me know.

    Thank you for looking
    A confused vintage lover

  2. You may have already come across this but the one and only hit on google, using "Gateway Modes" and "Made in California" (each phrase in quotes), is an ad from a November 1943 edition of the Spartan Daily, which was the San Jose State College newspaper.
(I love that one of the articles is titled, "Deadline for Pin-Up Boy Candidates is November 29"!)

Hi, yes thank you for your help. Did you just do a simple Google search? For some reason I tried the exact same thing and didn't get the same result. But, I'm very grateful because it gave me an idea to do a newspaper archive search in California! I found the exact jacket circa 1953.

    Thank you
