I'm Back!! The NEW SITE LOOKS AWESOME!!!

I\'m Back!! The NEW SITE LOOKS AWESOME!!!

Wow! I absolutely LOVE the new VFG home page, whoever did the work did a fantastic job!

My trip to upstate N.Y was great, found alot of fabulous stuff and I SURVIVED driving through the mountains this time with no panic attack, YAY!

The old building we bought , is another story......
MONEY PIT! I told my husband when he first saw it that he should have ran real fast back to Florida and just chalk it off as a $3650.00 loss....
Just a few bare facts, crumbling foundation, holes in the upstairs floors, plaster coming off the walls and RACCOON POOP! I was scared to walk around it but my husband was in his GLORY saying he could fix all this with no problem and has so far repaired the crumbling foundation, installed gutters so it won't happen again, started some exterior repair and painting and excavated the land taking 15 truckloads of dirt, old cars, junk and overbrush off the property, all in 3 weeks!
Thank god the roof was replaced before we bought it so no more water will damage the floors upstairs. I do have to say that I trust his judgement and that he will restore it back into a marketable building and will probably make some money in the long run.
We will probably close our house up in Florida and rent a place near the building next April for a few months so he can finish the work that needs to be done and I can shop and do my eBay.

Anyway.....I will be back later with a question about a 1940's gab coat...

Hi, Tori:hiya:

Glad you are back. The old building sounds a little mysterious and charming. Sure wish you would send your DH up this way. Sounds like he is quite handy. :) Can you rent him out for odd jobs?

Can't wait to see all your stuff you picked up.

The site is fantastic, isn't it? Still don't have a lot of the bugs worked out but it will be fixed soon. You can thank Hollis, Lizzie, and Chris for this. I have helped a little, too.

Hi Tori
Welcome back! I have just recently been back on the VFG site myself and agree the new look is fabulous.

That sure is a ton of work your husband got done in three weeks. Quite an ambitious guy!

Glad you made it through the mountains and back to Fla safely. And isn't it great there are no hurricanes so far this year! YAY!

Hi Tori! :hiya:

Your new building sounds like quite the challenge! Lucky you to have such a handy man! My DH would say "oh.. I can fix that, easy!" and then never get around to it.

You'll have to post some pics when you get a chance. Be sure to do the "Before and after"

Hey Tori! So you were up in my end of the world and I just got back from being down in your end!

I may have missed some things, but are you moving up to NY???

Hey Theresa, Karen!! LONG time no see...how you guys been?? Theresa, yes we are SOOOO lucky that the hurricanes missed us, it didn't even feel like it was hurricane season!

Chris...he will definitely make a profit once he's done, this building was only advertised for sale on eBay and not locally. All the neighbors were surprised he sold it and told Danny they wish they had known it was for sale. It is zoned for commercial so that makes it worth a bit more.

Kristine...he is VERY handy when it comes to doing things that make $$, now if you were to look inside my house at my unfinished utility room that he started 6 years ago you might change your mind but on the other hand if we were to decide to sell the house I can bet you a thousand bucks that the utility room would be finished in a day.

Susan, I'm really sorry that I missed you this time around, maybe next year. You didn't miss anything, we are NOT moving to N.Y... Heaven Forbid! I'd die in that cold or die trying to drive to a thrift on icy roads...
