I'm on TV! Talking about vintage swimwear.

Nicole -

Loved watching the video. Thank you for putting it on UTube. I had trouble downloading it. You have a lovely speaking voice - your shop is fabulous and I absolutely love the pink '30's swimsuit.

That was such a pleasure to watch, Nicole! And you have such a relaxed and engaging manner in front of the camera. Have you considered tv presenting as a sideline? :)

I'll add my voice to the chorus of praise for your shop too. It makes me want to book a flight to Perth right now. Its freezing here, so a sunny Christmas with vintage browsing thrown in sounds very appealing! :12:

Super! The YouTube worked for me, and I was finally able to view it! How absolutely stunning you are (and I had to do a double-take on your dress, since it looked similar to this one, lol http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=18037703).

I also liked the background music during the modeling. I was left wanting to see and hear more! :)

I'm impressed! It's so professional and very well done, between the fitting room shots, the apropos music, etc. You seriously have one of the best vintage shops I've seen. I wish I could shop it right now! And your model is adorable, btw.

Though I must say, I think Clark is the real star here. ;)

Kim - :hysterical:
We get a lot of comments on Clark - one new year's eve, a lovely man rushed in and asked if Clarke had a date for that night yet? I said that he was available but sadly, doesn't get out much....

Laura - they did a good job on the music, I was impressed. Sadly, many of the swimsuits ended up on the cutting room floor. We could easily have filled the whole 30 minute slot with all the material they shot, including a very cute doco of a beach beauty pageant from the '50s. I'm sorry they didn't use that as the contestants were so cute in their boned bathers!

Tintruck, I don't like to see myself in photos or video but I have considered doing voicework at times - I've always had a lot of compliments for my speaking voice. When I lived in the UK, many wouldn't believe that I was Australian because I lack a strong accent and now that I'm back, some people think that I speak the way I did because of my time abroad - but it's got more to do with my upbringing. My mum taught me well. Although I spent twenty summers in Perth, my shop and I are in Melbourne these days. It's lovely and warm as we go into summer - today the sky is a beautiful, clear blue. Just wonderful (hopefully it will hold for tomorrow, when I'm doing lots of laundry. Melbourne weather is notoriously changeable, Melbourne band Crowded House sang "Four Seasons in One Day" and it's often like that).

Amber - the mannequins are all original, and fully restored. Fay, my oldest mannequin is the one I put the swimcap on - she has the sweetest face. I think she's from the late '20s-early '30s and she's tiny and almost completely flat-chested (but she looks great in a swimsuit).

Laura - love your dress, if it were available I'd buy in a heartbeat. I'm using black florals to wean myself off all-black. The one in the video is an early '40s dressing gown, I bought it off ebay and I love it, especially as worn with dress clips as it is above. If anyone has anything similar please let me know!

Linn - the peach '30s one is my favourite. I bought that at a Perth market for $10 about 20 years ago - I used to wear it on hot summer days but it's been a while since I could fit into it (we couldn't even do it up properly on Candice, and she's pretty small). I don't think that the lady who sold it to me had any idea what it was, it's high on my list of styles that I wish someone would copy. Ah, vintage - love it!

So do people spend Christmas on the beach there? Its so different than what I can ever imagine here in the states.

Oh you bet we do! I've spent many a Christmas picnicking or swimming at the beach - we have to make up for the fact that for most of us the weather feels "wrong" for the day - the cards still have snow on them, Santa has a sleigh and the dinner is hot turkey and ham with all the hot trimmings. Most of us have British/European backgrounds so we do it "traditionally".

But sensible Aussies go for a cold lunch outdoors.

Aloha -

I usually don't go to the beach on Christmas but I often walk down to or look at the ocean. We have a tradional dinner as well. I can totally relate to seeing images of snow on cards while looking at palm trees out the window. Right now I'm wearing shorts and a tee shirt and about to go for a walk.
