Hi all!
Does anyone have any info on this hat label:'Madame de Jeane Model Hats Paris - New York'?
I tried searching but it brings up Madame Agnes and google image search didn't work for me.
It's a 1920s velvet cloche with upturn front brim that features metallic gold lamé, gold bullion and metallic gold threading trimming red roses and green petals.
Thanks!

That is a beauty! I am not familiar with that name. However, I suspect that it is a made up name, a name made up by the millinery company that made the hat. It was a fairly common practice in the early 20th century. They may or may not have rented a small Paris postal box address to make it seem more authentic.

Thats my feelings, but I could of course be wrong.

Regardless it is gorgeous!

Alas, the research database I depend upon the most is apparently no longer going to be available, so I scrambled to find information for you elsewhere, but it has been sparse. Because the "Madame de Jeunes" 42 South Molton St address is the same as the Madame de Jeane(s) addresses I found, I assume it is the same person, especially as they refer to Madame as a "society milliner." I will continue to poke around for more information, but it may be difficult to find much--if anything--more.

Wow thank you so much!

Seconding your skills as researcher! Would you mind sharing the name of your preferred database?
Th database I depended upon is a Proquest database (see here), which is apparently only available through libraries, universities, etc. The institution needs to pay for each Proquest package and I guess there was not enough demand for that package from the university I attended. I even offered to contribute $$$ toward the subsidy of that package, but I got no reply.
