Is the economy? Or is it me?

I've noticed that ebay has taken a downturn in vintage sales, for buyers it's a real score but as a seller it sucks!!! I buy and sell on ebay I tried to sell some things on ebay this VLV season and I only sold half one item less than my reserve (I only listed 4 things) despite having tons of people watching my items.
I think a lot of the buyers (VLV buyers) are stuck in a rut with their fads. Everyone wants hawaiian sarongs, muu muus, and lurex and lame.... I haven't seen a change in the way people dress-up there in ages people have been wearing the same fads since I wanna say 04 with the lame/lurex at VLV, muu muu's for a couple of years now, and sarongs since who knows how long. I never see people wearing something unique anymore even though it's vintage. I don't get it. I started selling on etsy and I am doing a whole lot better on there, however I agree when shopping on etsy it is more difficult than ebay. They need to make that easier. Sometimes I have to come up with hundreds of different key words for a particular item to make sure I don't miss any. Maybe someone if allowed can start a thread on here about favorite sellers on etsy and what they specialize in... maybe we should suggest to etsy to make their search easier

I also agree with "Laughingmagpie" I've been doing okay on eBay. I was a buyer long before I began selling and I so miss those seller's. (yes, I noticed when I came back after a year and a half that most were gone) Honestly, I just use the "Greed Thermometer" on everything I sell, I'm small peanuts next to you ladies, but I have figured that most buy from me are other seller's because I put my prices lower than most. I'm just padding my income so I am thankful if I get something for $2.50 and end up selling it for $24. I'm still ahead of the game. I've tried Etsy and was all "verklempt" but I do like using the "social networks" available.

I'd also like to say that my friend who owns a Vintage store says, "I must be the luckiest person she knows." I am fortunate in what I've found at very low prices. I'm grateful. This site has helped me so much. I'm still very green.
