Is There a Name for This Unusual Hat Style?

Greetings!

I have historical photos of at two or three different women in south Louisiana, USA, circa 1900, wearing this distinctive style of hat. (See below images)

Though taken in a rural setting, the photos show the women in these hats as rather fashionably dressed, and I can see in both instances they are attending social gatherings.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a name for this style of hat? Google searches and even enlisting the aid of AI have been fruitless.

Thanks kindly!

it looks like a version of the sombrero. Would ladies of that era have brought home a souvenir from their travels?

I've seen a few photos from this period showing similar hats. I wonder if at that time, this sombrero style was a popular style as people from warmer, sunnier regions wore this style to protect there faces from the sun while outside. The lady in the first photo looks like she is gardening. As you see the lady is also wearing a long sleeve blouse to keep her arms modestly covered and to protect her from the ravages to the skin from sun exposure(freckles, sun spots and wrinkles). It was certainly a time when porcelain skin without sun damage was very desirable and taken as a "sign of a lady". I never saw my paternal Grandmother , born in 1878, out in the son without a hat or parasol and she always wore long sleeved blouses or dresses and that was in the 1950s! She always wore a hat as well when outside year round.
