just a very quick one - am i right in thinking that the jerry parnis label is connected to mollie parnis? i know i've seen it discussed before but can't find the thread now!

nothing mentioned in the resource but i have that 'but i KNOW this' feeling about it!

TIA!:)

I also saw someone with the last name of Parnes that i wondered was connected too, but it was spelled differently.

I wonder if it is a coincidence or a relative

i'll get a label shot up when i can get up to the camera etc. when finlay is in bed. the font is the same as used for mollie, but then i suppose that's not really very conclusive!

ok, this is a very bad snap and i will do a better one later..

from a extremely full skirted novelty print dress. lots of rhinestones - i love it. need to work out exact date though, again will photo later.

it's just the label layout and script are very similar. what do you think?

Accoridng to Caroline Rennolds Milbank, Jerry Parnis was Mollie's sister and a competitor.Their sister Peggy designed lingerie for Chevette.

thank you hollis, you're a marvel!
and how cheeky to make the label look so similar!! but a talented family by the sounds of things... i'll retake the shot incase lizzie would like it for the resource.

So Jerry was Geraldine or Jerilyn, etc, versus Gerald. (or of course, had parents who loved to name their children with names ending in "y" so it is her proper name versus something more formal).

It would appear so. I bet Molliie wasn't happpy when Jerry's labels came out looking so like hers!

The Parnes ( with an e) labels I have seen are Parnes Feinstein and Paul Parnes. About which I know nothing! But the ever resourceful Lizzie may have come up with something for the Label Resource

I DO want the label for the resource. And thanks for the information about it, Hollis.

Paul Parnes I know lots about. It's a very old 7th Avenue establishment dating dack to the 19th century. And I'm sure there is a connection to Parnes Feinstein , but I've never found what exactly it is. We don't have a Paul Parnes label, btw.

Another label mystery is the connection between Ira Rentner and Maurice. The Ira Renter-Miller label pretty much establishes a family connection, (Anna Miller was Maurice's sister) but all I've ever found in print about Ira was that he was a member of FOGA - the Fashion Originators Guild of America.

Oh yeah, the mysterious Maurice. I will have to think about it now...but there was one other "familiar last name, not so familar first name" person that i came acrossed that i was wondering about as well. It's on the tip of my tongue. I will have to go look through some old labels i had and come back when it falls out of my brain. Maybe it was a Starr, but i can't remember at the moment

I've read about Frank, but can't remember where. It's buried somewhere in one of my books. I'm thinking that he was Maurice's father... but could be wrong.
