I have been searching for information on a dress label "DANA" and cannot find any reference to it. Does anyone know of this designer, what his/her exact name is and what era it may have been made? It was handed down to me by my mother but I do not know anything about its history. Thank you in advance for your time and expertise. Please see photos enclosed.

Dana was apparently the name of a shop at that address. I found a 1947 reference to a fashion show put on by "Dana-Festive Fashions of 515 Madison Avenue." The 1957 Greater New York Industrial Directory listed the Dana Blouse Co. (Ladies blouses) at 515 Madison Avenue. A 1958 article mentioned a piece of jewelry available at "the Dana Shop, 515 Madison Avenue (Fifty-Third Street)." A 1960 article mentioned jewelry available at "Dana, 515 Madison Avenue."

Thank you for sharing this information. If you happen to find anything more about the store such as photos of the dresses they made I would love to see them. I appreciate your help. Karen

Hello again, would you also be able to tell me what style of dress this is? And would you say it was made sometime in the 1950's?

I agree with Melanie - I would call it an evening gown but my dating is early 1960s. It's quite beautiful.

Thanks Nicole and Melanie. I am trying to be as accurate as possible in my descriptions to selling the vintage dresses my mother left me. It is very beautiful but have to sell it due to my extended job loss. I hope to find someone who will appreciate its beauty as you do. Thanks again.
