Hi, I've picked up a MAMBO Loud Shirt, but this one has clear buttons with Mambo on them, but when searching online I've noticed they all have brown 'coconut' buttons. Everything else seems to marry up ie the label & tag. :help: Sarah
Just wondered whether there was a reason the buttons on my shirt are clear ones with the Mambo inscription and all the others I've seen on Ebay are brown 'coconut' ones (haven't seen 1 yet with clear buttons)....... If i'm queryin the buttons, I'm sure a potential buyer into these shirts might do so & so wld love 2 hv the answer. Sarah ps 'coconut' buttons is someone else's terminology on 1 of the listings
I know the company began in '84, so maybe they started with coconut and switched to plastic in newer lines? (Or vice versa, even.) Sorry, not much help there. I know only a wee bit about the brand! But there are collectors out there, so that's a plus!
Nice shirt - probably late '80s. It's got photos of Australian muscle cars on it! The buttons may have been replaced - those shirts were expensive when they came out, and are still collectable (although they may be worth more overseas, who knows). You can read a bit about them here at the Powerhouse Museum's site. Nicole
Nicole: 'muscle cars' like it, didn't know the terminology til now, but will def use it in my listing! Did get in touch with a retailer who only specialises in Mambo Loud Shirts. He couldn't tell me why my shirt had plastic buttons, but did say that if they had MAMBO on them, then they were 'real deal' so that's good. Shame the shirt's missing a button & no spare. I hope that doesn't affect the sale too much, but from reading various listings it will do..oh well, ho hum! Sarah Totally Away With The Fairies
