Hello! I was wondering if anyone has heard of the designer "Marco D' Avante"? Years ago I found this fabulous blue crushed velvet mens size 44 smoking jacket with a 70's round metal pull tab zipper in a San Diego vintage shop. I have never heard of this designer, but his name is trademarked so there must be a market for his garments. Any information would be helpful. This jacket is in impeccable shape and is lined with a copper I will guess to be a acetate. Looking forward to hearing your comments. Laura Dewing dewingdesign
Hi laura! I will put that on my list of things to look for in my travels. I did not see it on the label resources page. Did you try searching on ebay (i would try d'avante and davante) and setting it up as a favorite search so you will be emailed when one is found? chris
Sounds really nice, and welcome! Sorry I have never heard of the designer before. Do you have a pic of the jacket and label you could post? Kat !~)
Hi Laura Not familiar with the name but it looks Italian. Any labels showing where it was made? Karen
Maybe one of our members, stepop, will pop in (hehehe) - he's a pro with suits and menswear, perhaps he can further shed some light on the designer.
I don't know if the label is noteworthy or not (the gals are right.. I'll be Stepop knows, if anyone!) but a vintage smoking jacket of the sort you are describing will find a market with or without a known name. They tend to do quite well. Welcome to the VFG, by the way kristine
I also have a Marco D'avante Jacket Timme-Tation Jacket. Was wondering if anyone knew what the value of it was Faux Fur
Joan, we don't give values here. If you can find this label online on ebay or etsy or another selling website, you can then get an idea of the pricing. Or look up vintage faux fur jackets if that label is not easy to locate.
