Meet Molly...

This thread gives me a smile every time I open it!

That opening picture of Molly is just toooo cute, I just want to cuddle her.... and I'm "really" loving those pugs!
Every time I see them I think.... possssibly....

I couldn't let this thread go by without my little guy showing up....
Rudy in his Foster Grants. :)
(yes, he does "think" he's all that.... lol)

Rudy is a cutie!

Yoohoo, Harriet...we need a picture of Jumble in this thread :)

How could this thread go by with a picture of Alex not being in it?

You know the weird thing...Daphne is not much of a grunter and really doesn't snort as much as expected. her breathing sounds like she is walking around with a cold though when she really gets going. Man, though, when she would "complain" she sounds so heartwrenchingly pitiful though. Okay this will sound weird and there is no real way to spell it....but Instead of a doggie whine/cry that goes "Mmm mmm mmm". She says "mmmmmmmmmmMMMMMMMMMMM" with no breaks like she is a tiny little toy motorcycle that is slowly accelerating. Or like a little gremlin creature. Do all pugs do that? She was sad because she was still in her crate and we weren't up yet , but heard the boys and wanted to see what they were up to.

Most pugs are capable of making the most outrageous noises that you don't hear from other dogs. I have two that go "woo woo," another that goes "whoop whoop," one that literally screams like a baby and another that sounds like Curly from the Three Stooges. And they really work it when they decide to show their displeasure --- which usually has to do with not getting food or not being the center of attention. We can blame centuries of breeding with the sole purpose of companionship for that!

Looking at these pictures again this morning.....
A great way to start the day. :)

Chris, I meant to ask yesterday.
Your pups are dachounds (sp)?
I've never seen them with the long hair (looks so soft & silky)

I chuckle at the last picture.... it looks like....
"honest, it wasn't me who got into michief.... really..." lol

one that literally screams like a baby

That sounds like Daph!

Lynn, there are smooth coat (which everybody recognizes), long haired, and wire haired. The wire hairs have a terrier like coat that has to be stripped occasionally and has the "mustache" like some terriers have. If you watch sometime when they have the dog shows on TV (usually from Westminster or the Eukanuba shows on Animal Planet)...if you catch the hound group, you will get to see an example of each coat type as there is a class for each. (but mini and standard size dachshunds compete against eachother, but they must follow the weight for their type).

Oh, and their coats are VERY soft. One just wants to pet them all day long.

The challenge with rescuing dachshunds is that county shelter workers don't always recognize a LH or a wire unless they have a very short coat,. They label them a "mix breed" so if a breed rescue is calling to inquire if they have any, they may say "no". so you have to be very vigilant and look at every dog to be able to tell the alert the rescue they are there.

He is also now over his amour.. realising that puppies may want to bite his ankles so a little more of a safe distance is best!!
Luckily he is quite good at walking away from her when she is trying to playfight - I think he would squash her if he joined in!
